Designing the Video Games for Cognitive Rehabilitation
Video games have the capability to be used for cognitive empowerment and/or rehabilitation. Different cognitive abilities, such as attention, working memory, and executive function, are involved during playing video games. Consequently, by designing games focused on each of these cognitive abilities we can improve these abilities during playing video games. In this track of research, we are trying to design, develop, and test cognitive video games that can be used for improving/training specific cognitive abilities. Our results show cognitive video game capability for empowering or rehabilitation of cognitive deficits such as users with ADHD (Attention Disorder and Hyperactivity Disorder) or LD (Learning Deficit). It should be noted that cognitive video games are like training athletes or physical rehabilitation of people with injuries or strokes.
